Airbus 319 Officially Replaced - Schedules Updated

The Atlantic Sun Airbus A319 was procured for use under short-term leasing options. As our lease terms neared their end, Atlantic Sun has decided not to exercise the option to extend these leases. The A319s were only utilizing about half of their range on the longest flights at ASA. However the 727 will shorten this gap and save on parts/maintenance due to the multiple 727s already in serviceable storage, therefore reducing operating and maintenance costs up front. Therefore, a decision has been made by ASA management to re-activate ASA's large fleet of 727s previously furloughed to long-term storage (primarily at Mohave and Victorville, with others in Kingman and Marana, AZ).

Additionally, when American Airlines furloughed their 727 fleet, many were also placed into long-term storage at Mohave with decades of flyable use left in their airframes. As of Sunday, April 04th 2004, Atlantic Sun Airways has successfully negotiated the purchase of additional remaining 727s (also in storage) to satisfy fleet requirements needed to sustain (and grow) our existing A319 routes. Airbus 319 aircraft have been officially withdrawn from service at Atlantic Sun Airways.

Additionally, the Atlantic Sun Airways flight schedules have recently completed a Phase I update, and the majority of return-flight and timing errors have been corrected. With this update, the MD-80 has been completely removed and replaced by the -83, and the A-319 replaced with the B-727-200.
